Invisalign is a new orthodontic technology that uses removable clear aligners made from high-quality plastic, free of metal, and nearly invisible when worn. It’s ideal for those who want to straighten their teeth without affecting their appearance or daily life.
The clear aligners are custom-designed for each individual using 3D digital scans combined with computer software to simulate the entire tooth movement plan throughout the treatment period. Patients need to wear the aligners 20–22 hours a day and switch to a new set every 1–2 weeks as instructed by their dentist.
Category | Invisalign | Metal Braces |
---|---|---|
Aesthetics | Nearly invisible | Clearly visible |
Convenience (Removal / Eating) | Removable during meals; easier to eat | Fixed in place; must be careful not to dislodge brackets while eating |
Oral Hygiene | Easier and more thorough brushing | Harder to clean around wires; incomplete brushing may cause additional cavities |
Discomfort / Irritation | Less irritation | More irritation from metal brackets and wires |
Dental Visits | Check-ups every 2–3 months; receive new aligners to change at home | Monthly visits to change elastic bands |
